Oh certainly that kid deserved his punishment. And I think the parents made the perfect choice by picking out the one thing that would really hurt the most.

As for the games, they're not much use without the console... though if I were the parents I'd put them under lock and key so he can't take them over to a friends house. If the kid further infracts, then they should start ebaying those as well.
