I haven't felt much like updating lately, but that probably makes no nevermind to most people here anyway.
I've not been watching the presidential debates, one is preaching to the choir in my case, and the other I cannot stand to watch on television. Having his visage flash across the screen is enough to elevate my bloodpressure to dangerous levels and almost incite me to homicidal violence.
And I can't vote anyway.
The only person in this household who can, most certainly isn't going to vote for the chimp. I've seen some of Kerry's solo speeches on C-Span before, so it's not like I'm unaware of his stance on things. I just can't wait to get this election crap out of the way already.
I noticed that they're ratcheting up the fear levels already, now it's missing stuff in Iraq that can possibly be used for nuclear weapons. 3 weeks 'til election day, it bloody figures. That shitty rag the NY Post was already construing Howard's win as a victory for Bush. Just because Howard is examining Bush's innards up close and personal like, doesn't mean that Dubya is a shoe-in. At least I bloody hope not.
Last weekend Kit came over on the Saturday, and ended up staying 'til Monday afternoon. Lots of design chatter. I got lots done on my cheongsam, the skull fabric one anyway, as the other needs interfacing I didn't have. PreZ spent most of the weekend glued to AutoCad working on the design specs for the case mod.
We went out and watched Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow, which I enjoyed. PreZ and Kit had various gripes about the technology, and certain things were quite iffy. The dialogue was a bit trite, which was a shame. It just all seemed a tad to stale or forced or something, not quite as fluid as the Bogie/Hepburn banter used to be, which they were obviously nodding to, and other 30s/40s era stuff.
Stylistically it's a gorgeous movie though, much with the eyecandy. Angelina Jolie was grossly underused though, and it would have been nicer if she'd dropped that weird British accent.
This weekend was mostly uneventful. Sunday we headed down to NJ to hang out with Tom. Karen was off for a gaming night, and so we decided the three of us might go to Makeda's. Unfortunately they were closed for a private function, and we ended up going for Indian food instead. A lovely meal, but Ethiopian from Makeda's would have been nicer, mostly because we've both had a hankering for that for some time now.
We followed it up by a game of Scrabble back at Tom's place. Geeks of the world, unite ;)
Never let anyone tell you Scrabble isn't dangerous... I'm sporting a nice bruise thanks to PreZ. He dropped their Oxford dictionary on me.
We received the Sims 2 in an Amazon order last week. I'm suitably hooked. Sims that actually age and go through the life stages (baby, toddler, child, teenager, adult, elder), that have children that are mixes of the parent's genetics... hello addiction.
The only downside is that there's a lot less items and such in the game than there was in the first one. So I'm positive we can start expecting the add-on packs to start rolling out soon enough, I just hope they add more stuff into each pack and that we don't just end up getting retreads of the same stuff that was in the add-ons for the first game.
I also received my copy of the second League of Extraordinary Gentleman volume. I've read all of the comic, but not the compendium of League compiled info/notes/story in the back. Definitely not a comic they'll turn into a movie. Not without butchering the hell out of it, which they'd have to if it were to come in at anything below an R rating. Considering the butchering they did to the plot of the first graphic novel, which was perfect for a film as it was, I doubt a movie based on the second volume would even remotely resemble the graphic novel at all. It was hard enough to find the first graphic novel in that travesty of a movie.
Which is a movie I recently found *cough*. Costume reference mostly, because I liked several of the outfits in the movie. It's much the same reason I (can) watch Van Helsing. The LXG movie was pretty decent, up 'til the point they set off for Venice. That's when things really went down the crapper. Such a shame too... they had the budget, and they had a good cast, and it was all for nothing.
Late now, tired, long day, must sleep.
