We did a fair bit over the weekend, have to make sure that they get to see enough of NYC while they're here.

Thursday we went up to PreZ's aunt for belated Christmas stuff, because the snowstorm on C-Day made it impossible to actually get out of the driveway. That evening we were PreZ's cheering squad when he did his league bowling ;)

Friday I took them into NYC where we first headed to the Empire State Building. We decided against trying to go up it when we saw that the queue for it went around the block and headed to the Metropolitan Museum of Art instead, which was originally our second part of the day. We spent the rest of the afternoon running around the Met. I saw parts of the Egyptian collection I'd not seen before and I showed them the Chinese temple they have and also the Egyptian temple of Dendur they have inside the Met. They also reopened their Japanese section which has some gorgeous scrolls with calligraphy on the walls and an impressive collection of room screens.

Saturday we went to the American Museum of Natural History on the other side of Central Park from the Met. The line to get in was HUGE and I think we spent at least 30-45 mins waiting to get in. They're operating under extended hours over the Christmas period so they were open until 7.45pm which made up for the wait. We got tickets for the Space Show in the Hayden Planetarium which was really interesting (narrated by Harrison Ford), and also tickets to the Butterfly Conservatory they have there. You get to walk through a large heated exhibit with free roaming butterflies. I took a number of pictures, but lord knows how well they'll turn out with this camer, it's just an instamatic. Sometime this year I'll buy a really good camera with a really good zoom lense on it... a proper celluloid film camera, not a digital... PreZ is already buying a digital camera, or will be soon.

This afternoon we went bowling which was fun. Tonight we'll more than likely go see The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers which should be good. Before then I might play another dvd to show my brothers ;) already got them to watch Amélie the other night, which is one of my favourite movies. Showed them Harry Potter yesterday which they hadn't seen yet, and made Willem watch the rest of the first LotR movie of which he'd missed seeing parts... that way he'd know what happened before we go see the next installment tonight.

We still want to see a Broadway show this week, most likely Cabaret. We haven't decided a day yet, either a Friday night show or the Saturday matinee. I'd like to take them to a club on Saturday before they leave, it'll be the first night of Digital Murder which is a new Industrial night that Kreestof is presenting with NY Decay, which will have the downstairs section in the same venue that night. will be interesting to say the least... a glowstick free alternative to Batcave on Saturday nights. No plans as of yet for NYE and not sure what we'll be doing on the other 4 days we'll have at our disposal this week. I think a trip to the Village and Chinatown at least.
