Life's a Cabaret, Old Chum!
Mar. 23rd, 2003 10:29 amSaturday morning we headed into NYC to go pick up rush tickets to go see Cabaret for the 2pm matinee... $25 is so much more pleasant on the wallet than $40+ afterall.
Neil Patrick Harris was the Emcee (Doogie Howser), and I never thought I'd utter the words that he was sexy, but, there you have it. He was a good Emcee, I liked him, and he really was sexy in the role. Debbie Gibson (80s teen pop queen) was Sally Bowles, also very good, though she had a bit of a grating English accent for my tastes... slightly annoying. I've not seen the show before, unlike PreZ, so I was unable to compare against other casts. When we'd originally considered going back in December or January Molly Ringwald was Sally, that would have been interesting. Also Tom Bosley (Ritchie's dad in Happy Days) was in this version of Cabaret, as Mr. Schultz.
The show was definitely lots of fun, and I recommend seeing it. Supposedly it's due to close "soon"... which has been the word for the past few months, but the ticket deadlines still keep moving back.
Spent the evening discussing corset stuff with Kit, and later also with Cherie... I asked for corset making lessons by way of a birthday present.
Also we watched part of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert... always fun. Pity that Devon didn't have time to finish watching it. She left this morning around 8.45am on the long and arduous journey back to Indiana.
