Now of all days
Apr. 1st, 2003 12:27 amOf course my body chooses to get kinda sick 2 days after a new piercing... damnit to hell. I need a flagging immune system like I need a bullet to the brain.
I now have a sore throat. My throat is always my weak spot. I never had my tonsils removed, and every few years I'll get a lovely case of laryngitis or tonsillitis or some such infection that means a nice bout with anti-biotics and no swallowing much of anything for a few days. Though, it's not gotten that far and I'm trying to keep it locked down to a regular sore throat. I'm currently having fun with the throat lozenges, lemon and ginger tea with honey, multi-vitamins and occasional doses of day/nyquil or ibuprofen.
I blame the weather from the past few days among other things. Saturday was quite warm, could wander around without a jacket for the most part, then it started to cool down in the late afternoon, and Sunday we had sleet outside. That and I've not been sick at all in I can't remember how long, so I guess I was due to come down with something. But now of all times... *grr*
I have to say that the piercing is behaving nicely so far. No redness to speak of really, and it keeps quiet most of the time... gets a little testy every so many hours, and a sea salt soak cures that. I'm glad it's not doing the illness barometer thing and getting more testy as I am being a bit sick.
Corset pattern arrived today, which is good news. First "lesson" on Friday if all goes according to plan.
I wish there was decent throat soothing stuff availible in the store, I've found that most things do nothing more than pain relief. I'm not that fussed about pain relief, I want the throat to get better... better throat means no pain... but no pain due to drugs doesn't necessarily mean that the throat is (getting) better. But a lot of stuff you can buy in the drugstore these days do that... they just make the pain more 'manageable' and do fuck all for the actual problem.
Anyway, I must go dose up on some Nyquil and crash out till the wee hours. At least Nyquil is more than a simple painkiller. Fingers crossed that it's all slightly better tomorrow, rather than further down the spiral.
