The Fourth
Jul. 5th, 2003 08:35 pmYesterday was fun. We opted for somewhat of a repeat of last year, go to the beach in the evening and just hang out with a bunch of people, and we stuck to that plan for the most part.
Beforehand after collecting everyone we headed over to Cherie's grandmother's house to eat. Chicken and salads and shortbread with fruit... very yummy indeed. Afterwards we grabbed munchies and our other things and headed across the road to the beach where most of the group ended up swimming in the Atlantic. Somewhat too frigid for my tastes so I stayed ashore. Then we spent most of the evening just hanging out and listening to music, talking and having a good time and watching some of the fireworks displays up and down the beach.
Sometime after 1am we headed off to find one of the all-night diners that NJ is so well-reknowned for and had breakfast before heading off to drop various people off at their homes and heading off to find our own beds. We didn't get home til around 5am, but it was definiely a successful 4th of July.
Now we have some tentative ideas for going to spend a day fruitpicking somewhere which I think will be great fun.
Sunday we're going to pick up a computer at one of PreZ's co-worker's house. He'll be taking that thing apart and swapping some bits around and using some others to build Cherie a temporary computer to use. Hopefully at least tomorrow he can try and set up the one she already has until he can fix up the other one for her to use. Other than that I'm not sure what we're doing tomorrow... there's a generous offer outstanding to join Vervain and some of his friends for Indian food, and while very tempting I know they're meeting sometime earlier in the afternoon and I don't think we'll be done with the various errands and things we have set up for tomorrow in time to join them to eat. Vervain, when back from the UK we really need to meet for Indian food!
On another note the lovely Ruby granted me permission to use her illustration from the cover of Freda Warrington's The Court of the Midnight King to use for the Freda fanlisting I'm making. I love Ruby... her work is so stunning, and one of her linedrawings is the one I want to use as a tattoo backpiece.
