darktorKit came by Thursday afternoon so we could work on the cheongsam, as the fabric for that arrived last week. We went for ice creams, chatted and tinkered around a bit until daskreestofKreestof showed up. Together with prezPreZ we headed over to Applebees for some food before heading off to Kit's previous apartment to play enforcer and get his security deposit back. Or we would have, had all his roommates not vacated the premises. At least one of them called to tell us that early, so Kreestof could head on home, as he had a lot of stuff to do himself. The three of us went on to just move the last remnants of things from Kit's place.

Moved stuff, and in the process acquired some things ourselves that were no longer wanted. Drove home and proceeded to hang out and have tea and donuts. The only thing I really got done was ironing all the fabric I'd washed and cutting out all the paper pattern pieces. We did check to see if a temperamental old sewing machine of Kit's worked, which it did. It's not ideal, being that there are bits missing that have to be improvised in the meantime, and some things don't work so well, but it stitches, which is enough for now I guess. I need to email PreZ's aunt and see if she had one stored somewhere, because I seem to remember her mentioning it once. Otherwise just time to buy one, I did ask PreZ for one for my birthday after all ;)

As if Kit didn't have enough projects to work on, PreZ brought up another one, an idea he'd mentioned before... case mods. Mixing geek with design. So now they've got ideas for a steampunk inspired case mod. That should be interesting to see happen. Kit decided to crash at our place as he was tired and he'd have to try a new route home and wasn't sure he'd be awake enough to do that without getting lost. So we stayed up til the wee hours talking about case mods. The idea of a Tim Burton inspired case mod is so tempting, were it not for the fact that I have a nice case I like, albeit not a modded case, and it's not like I have a need for a second case, or computer. But still... ;)

PreZ will finance the materials for the case, and Kit will kind of get design free reign with it. If it turns out well, it might be another avenue to pursue... custom case mods for sale ;)

I woke up to more geeky case mod talk this morning. And thunder, lightning and buckets of rain. What turned into a quick jaunt to Joann's in the afternoon took way longer than imagined due to massive traffic on the Tappan Zee, so we got home too late for me and PreZ to go to yoga, which was a bit annoying. Picked up some lining fabric, notions, a cutting board and a few other bits and pieces.

A recent Amazon order arrived Friday as well, so we ended up watching a dvd from the couple we ordered. We watched Trainspotting before Kit headed off home. I'd never seen Trainspotting, to my shame. I've always wanted to, I've known it got excellent ratings, everyone I knew who'd seen it said it was great, but it had just never happened. In part also due to the fact that our trips to the videostore are about as frequent as blue moons (I think we need netflix or something... none of that hassle of going to the damn videostore which is inconveniently far away). It was, of course, brilliant. Parts were disturbing, parts were sad, parts were weird and strange, parts were absolutely hilarious, like Renton's rant about the fact that being Scottish sucks, because they were colonised by wankers and couldn't even get colonised by a decent nation ;)

And of course Ewan looks sexy, even as an underfed heroin addict ;)

Plans for the weekend are fluid at the moment. PreZ will go off skating Saturday morning, other than that it kind of depends, Kit might come over sometime this weekend so we can work on more stuff, and if so there'll probably be a trip to Home Depot to look for bits and pieces for the case mod. We need to cram in at least one yoga session this weekend, otherwise we're going to waste too many of the classes we already had to buy back because we haven't been going as frequently as we should.

In the meantime, sleep.
