Dylan, the kid (8) from upstairs, came to bring our mail yesterday afternoon. He does that every once in a while when he's bored. Then he had a look around our apartment. He used to live down here with his parents, before they divorced and he and his mother moved upstairs to live with her parents again. He loves this apartment, and he wishes he still lived down here. He's also enamoured with the fact that we have fairy lights up and decorate a lot for Halloween and stuff.

Then he wandered around the garage, which is next to our apartment and also houses our washer and dryer units, and he noticed our boxed up Halloween stuff. He turned to look at me and then asked if PreZ and I were going to have a garage sale soon. "No" I told him, and then asked him why. Turns out he wants us to hold a garage sale and then sell our Halloween stuff, so he can have it.

Heh, as if. But I found it amusing nonetheless.

His grandmother usually decorates for holidays too, starting at least 4-6 weeks ahead of the holiday. I'm sure her Autumn/Halloween stuff will go up in the next few weeks, the most recent stuff was patriotic crap for Labor Day. Though, this year we might get to decorate the upstairs/front yard, because they were impressed with what we did with the backyard last year. Our 'front door' is around the back of the house, and so we have to make sure people know to come around the back of the house for trick or treating, and as they decorate the front yard, we decorated the back. Not that many people actually Trick-or-Treat in this area though, which is a shame... last year I think we got 5 people... and Dylan came around twice, the second time to show off the decorations to his chaperone what we'd done. Ah well, saves us loads of money on candy.

Hopefully we'll reprise our Halloween party this year too :)

Incidentally, for those into the Halloween decorating thing, check out Martha Stewart's Holiday magazine... it's the Halloween edition, and it's got some great stuff in there for decorating and food ideas etc.
