Incredible
Nov. 28th, 2004 04:02 pmI never did mention that we went to see The Incredibles a couple weeks ago.
We went to see The Incredibles a few weeks ago :)
Pixar did it again, coming up with an entertaining concept, filled with gags and smart little jabs and an intelligent story. The animation is amazing, as per usual. Finding Nemo's more magical and out there, because of the entirely new world you get presented, because The Incredibles is still set in the trappings of the human world and suburbia.
The jabs at the US's litigious society are hilarious... superheros have to hang up their supersuits and cloaks because they're being sued for wrongful saving and rescue and injuries resulting from those actions.
( Not really spoilery, but cut anyway )
The Incredibles to the rescue!
The voice casting is great, with Holly Hunter as Helen/Elastigirl and the excellent Samuel L. Jackson as Frozone. The movie is also reminiscent of the old 60s spy movies, with a touch of Bond thrown in in the character of Edna/E, the fashion designer and supersuit creator, who is the Q in The Incredibles.
Much fun, and if you're looking to see something at the local cinema, this is something to consider. They also showed a small preview of the next Pixar movie, due next year called Cars, which will be the last of Pixar's movies to be distributed by Disney. And before the main feature there's also another one of those funny little animated sketches, this time about a sheep.
