We watched this last night. I loved it visually (with one exception noted below) and thought it was fun. My favorite parts seem to match yours, particularly Sunny's subtitles and Billy Connolly and Sunny with the snake. I just love Billy. I haven't read the books which might have helped my confusion because there are holes in the plot that drove me crazy and I suspect these items are explained somewhere...like what the hell is the significance of the spyglass and who was the group and why were they at odds with Olaf? I would have liked a little more background on this adventurous group and why this was a secret from the kids. Aside from that it was a lot of fun. I liked it.
I am deeply disturbed though by the constant appearance in films of adolescent girls with collagen pumped lips. It really skeeves me and is distracting. It was distracting and disturbing in Peter Pan (an otherwise fabulous movie) and it was even more disturbing in this one because this girl's costume was a bit too bordello-S&M for her age and for my taste. I guess it was supposed to be gothy but it came across to me as the other. It could have been the lips. Ugh! A big thumbs down on the fake pouty lips. :p
Oh. Olaf constantly making reference to Sunny as a monkey really cracked me up too.
Another thing we agree on. I really dislike Denzel Washington as an actor. Not impressed. Not a fan.
