Start Corrupting Them Young

There's something really perverse about the fact that George Carlin narrates the US edition of Thomas the Tank Engine...

He's a stand up comedian, and he can have a rather foul mouth. Think along the lines of Denis Leary... very caustic and spices things liberally with expletives ;)

When I became an au pair in PA in 1994, I was very disconcerted to discover that Thomas the Tank Engine was narrated by this strange, unknown American. Ringo rules.

Ooh! and your card arrived today! Thank you so much, it's lovely :)

And yours is the first card too.

Hurray! I saw it and it shouted at me to buy it for you :) BTW, my Dad is in charge of framing the beautiful cross-stitch you did for me - he's good at mounting and framing pictures - and it will go up by the nice bookcase in the living/dining room.

Amen to that

I can imagine. Though I doubt he's quite so unknown to you now.

I don't understand why they'd need to re-do the narration really... the guy was a Beatle for crying out loud, and surely american kids can understand him.

But Ringo strikes me as a lot more wholesome than George Carlin, which is why Carlin is much more jarring for me.

I understand that Ringo no longer narrates the Thomas series... According to IMDb, Michael Angelis (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0029617/) narrated from 1991-1995, and there have been no English narrators since.
