My aunt had four girls, and she had to build a house to give them all bedrooms, buy a massive van to fit them all in the car, etc. Then, of course, her husband left her and she was stuck on her own with two teenagers and two pre-teens.
Bill's line has more to do with age than numbers. He doesn't want kids after he's forty, because he feels that's a bit of a cut off for really running about all the time. Not that you can't run about at forty, of course, but he doesn't necessarily want a ten year old when he's fifty-five. He'd like to be neutered after forty. :)
