Whoo... I won a set of figurines of the Sandman's Endless on Ebay, yay!

In other less thrilling news, the swelling in my jaw/gum has gone down somewhat, so indication that the antibiotics are quenching whatever nasties are there. This makes me happy because that means an(other) infection of the nasal cavity is more than likey averted.
Last time I had one of those it meant a trip to the oral surgeon, a dozen needles stuck in my gums and palette for anaesthetic, drilling from the jaw bone through to the nasal cavity which got cleaned out, several stitches and walking around with a top lip so swollen it looked as though I'd gone 5 rounds against Tyson with my hands tied behind my back.

And all of that is partially the result of being tripped as a kid, chipping ones front tooth and having it die. This meant a partial root canal at the tender age of 7 or 8, which was how old I was when it died. Then years of wandering around with a fairly mismatched temporary crown until I could finally get fitted for a permanent one after hitting 18 and jaw maturity. Dentist number 1 was an okay dentist for the regular stuff, but the crown was a botch job, it didn't look anything like the rest of my teeth and as a front tooth it would stick out like a sore thumb. As you do, you go along with it for a while because you think they know what they're doing. I eventually went to a better dentist for a second opinion. I think every dentist and assistant in that practise got brought in to look at my previous dentist's work... and not to admire it either. Then that infection in my nasal cavity hit (probably due to having the temp crown put in and taken out regularly for fittings and drilling procedures), and I took the oppertunity to permanently swtich to the new dentist and got a next-day referral to the oral surgeon to stop the excruciating pain in my jaw/face. Toothaches, like earaches, never really respond at all to conventional painkillers, which makes them so much worse than most things one goes through.

PreZ and I put in some orders for some dvds, books and cd's on the weekend. They've all shipped and now the countdown begins until it all arrives.
