Corsetmaking #1
Friday was fun.
Due to leaving later than I had wanted to, and horrible traffic on the NJ Turnpike it was almost 6pm before I arrived at Cherie and Kit's place. Just hung out for a while and then went to find dinner... by the time we got to the costume shop it was almost 9pm, so a somewhat later start than we had anticipated.
We did get a fair bit done though. Copied all the pattern pieces to different paper, cut those out and transferred them onto mock-up fabric, cut those out and sewed them all together. Then some fitting and discussions on how to adjust the pattern and what we want to do with it. Made some minor adjustments, taking bits in at certain places and such.
Next week though will be more involved though as we're thinking of changing the pattern a fair bit, mostly because of the way we want the front panel to look. We don't want the seams all to run so straight down the corset. So, this will mean quite a bit of tweaking. I did find a corset online that does what we want to do too, only we want it slightly exaggerated. A printout of the picture will be coming along next week by way of reference.
I'm also planning on leaving earlier next week, and Cherie is done an hour earlier than we thought on Friday's so if we manage to get our timing down pat we should be able to have several more hours than we did this week.
We're taking pictures to document progress of making the corset. Kit will be using some of them to accompany an article for Morbid Outlook that he will be writing sometime, about corset making. With the influx of new pictures with that digital camera I really need to get plotting as to a photo album/gallery section for my personal site.
Also need to come up with ideas for a site for PreZ's new domain, Neuromancy.net, where he'll be housing his development team for the various programming projects (Magick & Mantra etc.).
Ear ouchy. It's being quite angry at the moment in one of the holes. Not good... I think it's related to being ill this week. I'm sure that coughing a lot has sent lots of little bacteria thingies into the air. Extra attention in the way of longer sea salt soaks, and I'm spraying bactine on it after cleaning. I hope it settles down soon... I really don't want problems with this piercing. I really wish I could find some of the cleansers recommended on my APP aftercare sheet, but of course our local CVS has about fuck all in the way of decent supplies.
