Friday meant Corsetmaking installment #2.

Trying to get down to NJ ended up being a nightmare and a half. The Tappan Zee Bridge was already fairly busy, but not that bad... the Palisades parkway was also busy, but I could keep decent speed up on there. Then the NJ Turnpike, and it all ground to a halt. I did most of the Turnpike at like an average of 20mph until an exit or two past Newark, after which I only need 3-4 more until I get to Kit and Cherie's place. So I arrived at least an hour later than I had planned to. Bleh. Next week I'm leaving way early so as not to arrive there so late.

Kit and I went and bought some new fabric for the mock-up, as we were going to rework the pattern. Then we proceded to do the same as last week... picked up Cherie and headed out to get something to eat first, and ended up back in the shop around 9pm. Along with a pattern from Kit's draping class the pattern was modified so that the seams run more diagonally rather than straight down. Then pattern tracing, cutting, sewing... by way of good fortune everything actually fit almost perfectly. Very good, considering the pattern pieces had been changed substantially... and that was based on the old pattern pieces which didn't reflect all the changes from last week when we took it in at certain places. It only needed some minor nips and tucks and then for the changes to be reflected into the pattern pieces and now it's ready for next week.

Afterwards we went for a slurpie run, braving the nasty rainy weather to feed sugar cravings. And then I headed home... where I arrived around 3am. I really wish it wasn't an hour & 15 minute commute. And I wish the evil toll booth monsters didn't eat so much cash either.

Next week the scary stuff starts... using the actual fabric, rather than some cheap mock-up fabric that you can screw up as often as you want.

Cherie & Kit: I'll get the pictures from yesterday up sometime Sunday afternoon.
Kit: name your day for going and getting supplies in NYC, if you want to do that this week that is.
