As far as the ticket is concerned, I can at least try and get it reduced somewhat. Another thing that I realised is that he got my name wrong... rather than my last name he wrote my place of birth as my last name, as my Dutch license apparantly confused him, so now technically the ticket has been written out to a person who doesn't exist. I'm unsure of whether that's enough of a technicality to get me off.
As for the corset, the major thing with making one is time. It's very very time consuming. We've now done 8 sessions, and at least several hours per session, 40+ hours easy. Most of the sewing is straight lines and such, and you just have to be accurate when sewing and pinning. I was lucky also that I had people around me who could give me pointers on what to do, and also to help adapt and redraft the pattern. From what I've heard corsetry is the first thing they do at FIT, so it can't be *that* hard really. It's been easier than I thought, and it's been way more timeconsuming than I thought.
And yes, the option of being to make your own corsets is very nice, especially when there's already a pattern now that I know works/fits and I've been through the entire process now. But alas, I don't currently have my own sewing machine, and you'd need a fairly sturdy one for the boning channels.
