Sydney

So I was looking on the Sydney Morning Herald site the other day, trying to find something which I never did find, but I came across a picture gallery with some stills of the city, though not the ones that you'd generally find in the touristy things, but the pictures that are more for the Sydney resident, rather than the tourist.

Sydney skyline on New Year's Eve

Waverley Cemetery looking on the waves at Clovelly. And if you're wondering, no the waves aren't going to swallow the cemetery. It's located on a bluff or cliff overlooking the ocean, and it's a gorgeous cemetery (yeah yeah, very goff).

Makes me a tad homesick, even for a city that isn't even my home city (though it's the only place I've lived in AU), in a country that isn't my home country.

If things go to plan, we'll be visiting by the end of the year, yay!

The actual gallery where I plucked these from is here

That second picture of the cemetery is absolutely breathtaking!

Apparantly there was once this goth guy doing a ritual from the Necronomicon at Waverly to summon Cthulhu, and the coppers showed up with vans and dogs and choppers and freaky stormtroopers in black and the whole bit XD

HAHAHA! what an idiot.

We've only ever gone sneaking around there in the middle of the night with [livejournal.com profile] trejkaz and [livejournal.com profile] vulpy, looking around, sitting and talking etc. etc. just hanging out and having a good time.

I think it's so delightfully amusing that someone got so nervous about one little nerd-freak with too much time on his hands ;p
I'd love to go to Waverly, I've never seen it personally. Next time I go to Sydney, Waverly and Rookwood are top of the list of sites to see.

Never been to Rookwood, not from lack of desire to though. I think it's a bit more out of the way than Waverley is, as that's not that much of a drive from the CBD, as it's just past Bondi really. Granted, we were already in the CBD at the time we decided to go to Waverley, it was a post-#aussies-meet thing, almost 4 years ago to the day actually... would have been like Jan 17th or so. Heh.

Aha! My memory still works. Brilliant.

You remembered the event but weren't sure it really happened? ;)
