If you dropped me because of the Islam controversy, might I suggest you read this: http://www.livejournal.com/users/sonofstoker/2004/05/08/
Consider that controversy and the idiotic post after it just the straws that broke the camel's back, not the sole reason.
Other reasons included your being a hypocrite, and a bald-faced fucking liar ("I don't know how she got there. Weirdness abounds."). At least if you're going to violate numerous of the rules and guidelines from the rule book you say you live your life by, and which you use to justify your views of others, you might want to get off your moral high horse first, it makes you look less like a twat. People also would respect you a hell of a lot more if you actually had the balls to fess up to your flaws and lies, especially when you get caught right in the middle of them. It is of course preferable that we not get lied to at all by someone who considers us a friend, but at least respect us enough to fess up and tell the truth when we catch you at it.
And even that's not a full list of reasons, however, I think they're quite sufficient to justify my removal of you.
All is explained, all is well.
"Haha it was an experiment, let's all go back to the way it was!". I don't know if you're stupid or you think we are, but it smacks of back-pedalling in the worst way. Aside from the fact that it's as believable as pigs engaging in self-propelled flight, it's also insulting to start using your friends list as guinea pigs and make them the butt end of some lame experiment/joke.
Also, have you pondered the question why none of the people who removed you from their friends list questioned your being an intolerant bigot? I mean, I know you love to claim that you aren't, but I don't think your statements, whether you call them "experiment hypothoses" or whatever, surprised anyone, just the voracity of the sentiment did. So maybe you should put some thought into that, even though I'm sure you have numerous rationalisations that will probably stop you from really grasping what I just said and admitting to yourself that you actually are an intolerant bigot.
Oh, and by the way, I couldn't find
lios_alfar's e-mail address. If any of you know her or can contact her, would you pass this on for me?
I posted it as a comment to her lj. Which I'm sure you could have done yourself, but anyway. She, like many others, probably already saw your post before you decided to start emailing people just in case they hadn't noticed.
But you know, none of this is anything personal...

Date: 2004-05-10 03:45 pm (UTC)He later also back-tracked and said it was an experiment, I assume you noticed that part too, as he links to that explanation. As I stated in my post, his intolerance towards various things is not a surprise, because even before this so-called "Ultra Tolerance" experiment he had made views along the same lines clear, though not in such a blatant manner until that post. Hence I don't really buy the 'ha ha it was an experiment' thing, it doesn't ring true, and it's still offensive to play your friends this way by stringing them along like rats in a maze.
You need to get on your YIM! more :)
