Email as sent from some AOL user who used the webchat client. And this is exactly a prime example of why AOL users are generally ridiculed on the internet. I believe he claimed he was 35 too...

>> hi i was on this site , ifeel that the host of this site was verry rude, disrespectfull i beleave that iwas killed off for no reason what so ever. and somthing need to be done about this problem i feel its rong and im going to talk to a atorney about this i was mad fun of and discriminate agenst and you will be hearing for me soon enought <<

I'd like to save you the time of going to an attorney and being laughed out of his or her office...

For starters, you never spoke to the host of the site, from the log files I can tell you only spoke with some users and one of our moderators, lotus_succubus.

Furthermore, you were not killed off at all, not only that, but NOBODY was kicked/banned from any channel or the network at all for HOURS.

Thirdly, I log all activity in channels that I'm in, and if you are the user who I think you are, then I have a very simple explanation for what happened. You were not kicked off, the web-based chat timed out. Your connection as Darker26 locked up, and you rejoined as Darker436. If need be, I can quote the relevant log file sections for you.

Finally, you do not have a leg to stand on in regards to going to a lawyer. For several reasons:

A) You don't have any evidence whatsoever that you were kicked/banned
B) it never happened anyway, and I and several other people on the network log channel activity
C) you can still join the network/channels, which would be highly impossible if you were really banned
D) this IRC network is our property, we own and run the servers that it runs on, the first amendment doesn't apply here and you have no recourse. We can remove people from our property as we wish, much like bouncers in clubs can remove troublesome patrons.

And can I just reiterate points A and B?

But by all means go and waste a lot of money hiring an attorney for a case that doesn't exist, nor would have a snowball's chance in hell.

Have a nice day.

Well, the response I pasted here is what I emailed back to him. I doubt I'll hear anything back anyway. If I do, I'm sure it'll be amusing.

I wasn't around when he was being a dope online.

Either way, between logging chat (and he was being a gimp) and the fact that the Darkernet box on which the site is located through which he connected to the chat is hosted in Perth, Australia, I'd like to see him try and claim some First Amendment thing on it ;)

Careful Lilith. They may get a special internet lawyer and take you to internet court, where you'll be forced to pay them thousands of internet dollars.

AOL users suck.

And the best thing about it, is that the people who were on AOL that didn't suck, don't want their reputation ruined by the grand majority who do suck, so they leave AOL. The result is AOL gets stupider and stupider every year, and is now entirely populated by the residents of various trailer parks.

The only people I know on AOL, who don't suck, have AOL because they either live somewhere where there is absolutely no other internet service availible, or because they live at home and their parents pay for it and in some cases refuse to consider switching to anything else (or someone whose parents pay for it even though he lives on his own, but if he switched he'd have to pay for it himself and money is a concern).

And I know some people who are just computer stupid and like it because it's so "easy". But then they fall under the suck contingent ;)

Yeah. Especially because when you start using something because it's "easy", your brain starts turning even mushier.
