Have you seen the statistics on the aging demographics of the red states? All the X geners are moving to the blue states apparently. Should be fun when the blue states stop subsidising the red states ;-)

I wish they would stop funding them. Most of the tax revenue comes from the blue states, specifically the tri-state area (NY/NJ/CT) and it all goes to the impoverished south and other red states. NY pays the highest in taxes, and gets the least return. The south should secede, they can then fund their ignorance themselves, and not get those damn liberals to pay for it.

Michigan's a blue state. Surely you paid attention to the elections, especially seeing as you live there? :P

Actually, AU has an interesting forerunner to that one. A guy was running for parliment in Tasmania on a platform of succession, and the federal parliment said "Sure, go for it, it will save us X billion a year".

I fear that in the US case the succession will actually be people moving out. From what I can see, the ability of silicon valley to attract the bright young things that have kept the US moving has stopped. Now the magic is in london and bangalore.

Things move on, no one country stays on top forever...
