I bet its that dutch licorice! its a bit different than the one I know and love but each to his / her own I say.

Yes, Dutch licorice :)
Some time last year or so I found a place in the US that stocks and sells it, in larger quantities and for relatively cheap (insofar as imports are ever cheap). So occasionally I hit them up for an order.
