Ooh Shiny!

Forget Mapquest, Google Maps is way nicer. http://maps.google.com/

PreZ showed me this, and you can even fill in stuff in the search field like "thai restaurants near [your address, town, state]" and it'll give you results it's found. It won't list everything that's actually near you, because I'm assuming it works in conjunction with a regular Google search, so Yellow Pages would be more in depth (which it doesn't work with), but it's definitely nifty.

interesting :) I've actually been using randmcnally.com, as it gives me a means to plan a road trip (GN Meetup, stopping by my mothers in colorado on the way there = 2495 miles) :)

Nice. And it doesn't flip out if you don't put in a zipcode.

It lies!
It says there are only 2 indian restaurants near me!
Har har har! :)

This caveat was already mentioned.

Not to mention its in beta.

But then, I'd love to see you get mapquest to give you more information :P

Mapquest and mapsonus are crap though. :)

Like I said, it works based on web presence, NOT using Yellow/White pages or some such.

It didn't list our roach motel Chinese restaurant, or the Indian restaurant that we took you guys too, or the one we ate at last weekend either. However, those are just nifty functions, rather than essentials for me. I find their map stuff much clearer than Mapquest's.

Yeah those places need to get on the web.
It's very cool though.

I must say thank you for that linkage. Wonderful timing too. :) Two thumbs up!
