Seeing as HIV does invade DNA to make more of itself(part of the perks of being a retrovirus) the choice now seems quite obvious for cancer. Not that I would want to be part of the clinical trials for this one!

I guess it depends on which exact parts they're using. If they managed to get just the part that attacks specific cells, which they now claim they've "programmed" to attack cancerous cells specifically, then I can see an application.
But then this definitely wouldn't be the first time man decided to fuck with nature, with dire consequences.
