You know, I'm getting so really sick of the so-called Christmas spirit crap that's shovelled so freely over the month or four so before the day.

The message that is so blatantly obvious now in the countdown to C-day is that if you don't spend enough that your credit card bills make you suicidal come January you're a cheap bastard and you're not "generous" enough and failing that gift giving spirit of C-day.

Fuck that! I refuse to partake in forced consumerism. Giving a gift on any other day of the year will be a lot more meaningful than giving it at Christmas because at least you came up with said generous idea all on your own, rather than be brainwashed by the "Spend, Spend! SPEND!" propaganda thrown at you from all sides.

And in a related theme, the Salvation Army has started their annual charity guilt trip as well. While I have nothing against the Salvation Army and what they do, I am annoyed that they lie in wait for me literally 4 feet from the exit of the supermarket at our local strip mall trying to make me feel guilty about having just bought my dinner. If I'm really lucky and I go to another store there like the pharmacy they'll have temporarily abandoned their little cauldron in front of the Shoprite to go stand near their cauldron thing in front of the CVS (yes, they have several these things set up in front of the busiest stores and move from one to the other every so often).

So on that note, if you too are sick of the forced Christmas "cheer"... http://www.xmasresistance.org/.
