My new little second cousin has been named Corné (Cornelis Willem). A happy grandmother with a digital camera sent me pics on the day which was cool. Plus she included a picture of my other little second cousin Laura who was born last year... damn they grow so fast.

When I actually get access to my computer again I'm going to need to set up a gallery page on my site. And I think php would be handy to make this work properly at some point.

Finished reading Storm Constantine's Calenture last week... very very good. Started and have since finished reading Poppy Z. Brite's The Value of X which I also really enjoyed. I can't wait until Liquor comes out. I'm now reading Caitlin R. Kiernan's Trilobite: The Writing of Threshold... a kind of literary equivalent to dvd extras and outtakes as it contains mostly stuff that was not included in the original novel and two related short stories.

Friday late afternoon PreZ and I headed down to NJ, traffic once again was horrific, especially across the Tappan Zee Bridge... what usually takes us about 10 minutes took over 45 yesterday. Friday afternoon rush hour traffic, gotta love it.

We made it to NJ on time to go see the two One Acts that were being performed at the Jameson, the first of which had been costumed by [livejournal.com profile] ippagoggy. It was an amusing piece, though the Moliere piece after it was a lot funnier, but then that's all out comedy. Afterwards we went out to dinner at a fairly fancy place... apparantly their snack menu is decent stuff, but their dinner menu is somewhat of a rip-off... great food, but at $17 for a huge bowl with a small amount of fettucini with artichoke, spinach and bacon bits it was stiffly priced.

After that we headed off to the 7-11 to pick up snack foods and then back to [livejournal.com profile] darktor and [livejournal.com profile] ippagoggy's place to pick up costume stuff and off to the shop to do some work. [livejournal.com profile] prez got fitted for his jacket, and [livejournal.com profile] darktor got the sleeves put onto that jacket too. For my corset we got all the place markings for the boning channels transferred onto the coutil and cut out all the pieces of the corset from the silk brocade.

Later this afternoon I'm driving back down and we'll hopefully get several hours done. Next up is assembling some of the pieces, then basting the brocade and coutil together.

First... COFFEE! Cafe du Monde cafe au lait *yum*
