PreZ and I went to see this last night, and it was absolutely hilarious. I think I might have liked this one even better than the first one, as well as finding it funnier than the first one.
The various movie references were amusing, as were the sight gags with things like "Farbucks", the jabs at LA and the entertainment industry, including Joan Rivers cameoing as herself.
The voice casting was excellent... along with Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy reprising their roles, they had John Cleese as Fiona's father, Julie Andrews as her mother, Jennifer Saunders as the Fairy Godmother, Rupert Everett as Prince Charming and Antonio Banderas as the excellent Puss in Boots. Antonio might be the best thing in this movie full of great things.
I love how this movie works on so many levels, for the kids it's a satisfying kiddy animation movie, but there are many references that the adults will get that make it also satisfying for them to watch. Aside from the fact that the story is just extremely tight and well done with great dialogue and jokes.
PreZ and I spent most of the movie laughing out loud. I can't remember a movie I've seen, especially in recent times, where I've laughed so much.
If you see one movie this summer, this one is it.
