But I don't like the weeks of men-are-clueless-scum-and-women-are-grasping-bitches-and-you're-fucked-if-you-don't-buy-her-a-diamond media propaganda.

From Poppy Z. Brite's journal.

And I heartily concur.

I dislike the rampant sexism in the ads for Valentine's Day. Nearly always it's about the men needing to buy gifts, either chocolate, flowers or preferably something sparkly from Kay jewelers, with the threat of spending Valentine's night on the couch. I guess feminism goes out the window when it comes to getting goodies.

I patiently await when there are ads in the media for women to buy stuff for their men (yes, I know many do anyway, but I'm talking about media/marketing perception here).

Meanwhile, all the candy will be on sale tomorrow at CVS :D Hopefully they discount it like they do the Halloween candy: 75% off!

So while they ruled out strep throat for prezPreZ via a breath test, it's now down to tonsillitis or mono (infectious mononucleosis). Yes, "kissing disease". I doubt the latter is a real possibility, but they took blood to test and make sure.

If it is mono, his doctor needs to be bitchslapped, because both medications that the doc gave him are recommended against for mono sufferers (wikipedia is a wonderful thing), as amoxycillin can cause a rash in 90% of mono patients (which then commonly gets diagnosed as an allergic reaction to penicillin), and the prednisone is a corticosteroid that has been shown to potentially increase the risk of the Epstein-Barr virus (which causes mono) causing lymphomas in later years. But I guess they'd file that crap under acceptable risk or something.

But we'll see how it goes. Hopefully the blood test results will be back soon, and turn out negative for mono. At least tonsillitis is much easier to treat and definitely doesn't last as long as mono does, which is basically something that can last for weeks and has no real cure but time.

Hopefully he'll feel better tomorrow, so he can accompany me to the midwife, it's always more fun with company.
