Another promotion test...

And it looks like another trip to the doctor tomorrow. This is a worrying trend :P

This time it's his foot. He was fine when we left the dojo, though it was a bit sore. More sore after we left the Baskin Robbins/Subway/Dunkin Donuts near the dojo, and hobbling-badly sore from the train station home.

Now it's hopping-on-one-leg-through-the-apartment sore. I'll probably either get him to put on some tiger balm or one of the hot/cold/soothing pads that we still have (ah, the freebies they give you at karate tournaments...), but I'm not sure that it'll really make much of a difference. Hopefully it's not a fracture, like last September, when he fractured a rib which meant no training for 4-6 weeks.

Ouch!
Maybe it's time to take up a softer martial art like Tai Chi. :P

Heh. So does karate.

We had 2 people testing for sho dan (black belt)... that was mental torture in action as well as physical.

Is he RICE-ing? (You know: the old rest/ice/elevation/compression hat)I have had soft tissue damage and "bone bruises" from muay thai that were pretty debilitating and felt like they could have been fractures at first(I banged up my ankles on a regular basis).A fist-full of motrin was my instructors' answer to everything, but it will keep swelling at bay.
Unfortunately, this is the price you pay for doing "hard" styles. Hang in there.

Mostly it was just sticking on a Salonpas bruise/aches/etc. pad, and going to bed. It seems to be a little better today, he can actually limp on it again, as opposed to avoiding it completely like he did last night.

He'll probably still want to go get it checked out though. Can't say I blame him really, seeing as last time he felt fine for a week or so, when it got more painful and he got diagnosed with a fractured rib.
