Sunday Afternoons

We had much fun on Sunday, when we went down to Jersey to hang out with Tom & Karen. After the usual bout of tea, we ended up going to Makeda's for an early dinner, which was lovely as usual. It's funny how we would often think that Makeda's is expensive, but it's not really, especially not if you have the vegetarian dishes. You pay pretty much the same for an entree at Makeda's (even with meat) as you'd do at some Applebees/TGI Fridays type joint, but the food at Makeda's is infinitely better.
It had been a while since we'd had some Ethiopian food, so that definitely hit the spot.
Afterwards we went to see Robots, which I highly recommend. A very hilarious movie, with lots of little gags and pop-culture references, and just an all around entertaining story. I know Tom and Karen mentioned that reading the initial plot outline they weren't that interested, but the movie more than won them over. Ewan McGregor voices the main character, and Halle Berry the female love interest. The show was stolen, as it often is, by Robin Williams voicing the character of Bender. I'd love to hear outtakes of what he did, because I get the feeling that much like when he voiced the genie in Aladdin, the outtakes were much more blue than an essentially kids movie would allow ;) I'd also like to know how much of what he did was ad lib, or scripted... knowing him, they probably gave him a lot of free reign. Either way, his performance was hilarious, and well worth price of admission alone as far as I'm concerned.
After the movie, we reconvened for tea and chat, of course, and then headed off home again.
All in all a very successful Sunday afternoon/evening. Thanks Tom & Karen :) and I look forward to a repeat.
