Dork

You know you're really ready for Spring to start when you feel seasonally depressed playing the Hilltop segment of the Neverwinter Nights expansion Shadows of Undrentide, because it takes place in a frozen Siberia-like landscape.

Though currently I've moved on beyond there into a desert area, which is nicer, though some green and vegetation (or green vegetation) would be good.

Yes, Neverwinter Nights has been occupying a lot of my time, can you tell? :P

If you play online, I thoroughly recommend Avlis (http://www.avlis.org). It's a strictly role-playing server; power-gamers and griefers are banned when caught.

*grin*

So far no online play, just been making my way through the original campaign and expansions first.

Is Avlis a seperate RPG? or is it a NWN server?

It's an NWN server - six servers, in fact. It's a rather large persistent world. It's a member of CoPaP (Confederation of Planes and Planets) which means you can play on Avlis and transition directly to many other servers as well.

And there's heaps of custom content. You can play a kobold, or a goblin, or a wemic, or a sha-hesk (lizard man) if you're a bit bored with the human/elf/dwarf thing. =)

It's a role-playing server, so it's all about interacting with other PCs rather than powergaming your way up to 20th level. It's a low magic world, too.

I likes it. *grin*

That means you've passed the weasel-alike (iirc) creatures inside the caves?

The ones that take me away after I become a statue? Game crawled through and then halted at that part of the video, so I need to re-do the last few minutes talking to that medusa witch after a reboot and see if that makes a difference. I think it started having issues reading the dvd, because the next time I tried to load the game it asked me to insert the game disk, so might need to clean that.

I just went through the portal that killed my char's teacher/master Drogan, and wandered through that very Petra inspired desert section with all the statues to the temple thing she's waiting for me at.

Ooh, I just re-installed NWN, after receiving the Platinum edition for a late christmas present.

When I have time, I suspect I'll be putting some of it into a cleric-monk. :")

Heh, yeah, we got the Platinum edition a couple weeks ago, which I've been playing. Much fun.

You would love the night elf forests in WoW.. so verdant and colourful.

Yeah, they're pretty nice to look at, until you're running away from an entire raid party of level 60 Shamans coming to rape Astranaar again. :P

Splintertree seems to be a favourite sparring place with the Horde.

I have regular WC3, so I know what it's like.

Plus the original campaign NWN landscapes are nice and verdant, it's just the SoU ones aren't... due to the fact that mostly it takes place in a desert.

It's amazing how games look these days.
