Baby Leggings

Just as I was thinking that I need to hurry up and learn to knit so I can make leg warmers for Dashiell, so that he doesn't get cold legs when his pant legs hike up when I carry him in the Mei Tai, someone points me to http://www.babylegs.net/.

They have them in black, with bones on them! And on http://www.theecstore.com/ those ones are discounted for the post-Halloween season. Whee!

*goes to order*

I'm definitely considering a DivaCup. Though I haven't yet gotten my period back, and assuming things go as they should, I shouldn't get it back for many months to come as long as I breastfeed Dashiell regularly day and night (hence it's called natural child spacing). Definitely an upside to breastfeeding.

And by the time I get my period back, we might consider another baby.

As such, I haven't bought a DivaCup... not much point for now :P

I love my DivaCup too, just FYI. :)

I'm tempted to knit the new baby some of those baby legs! I have a feeling they'll come in handing when using the wrap sling in the winter.

Definitely.

Even with the 3-6 month pants Dash ends up with at least an inch of naked leg in the Mei Tai. Not a problem when it's indoors, or only for a brief period outdoors right now... but the temperature is fast approaching freezing, and it's not going to get any warmer for many months to come.

So because I can't yet knit my way out of a wet paper bag, I bought 2 pairs of the Bones babylegs (they were on clearance, and I always regret when I only buy one of something really cute and it never makes a return... plus I can always gift it), one of the green jester design, and blue polka dots. I also really like the autumn stripe one, but I didn't want to spend even more money, and the green and blue ones suit many of the outfits I have for him better than that design.

I recently bought a Westchester magazine at Whole Foods, which is for our county. I noticed something about various crafty classes at various stores, including knitting. So I might see which of the nearby wool/yarn stores have a convenient Stitch 'n' Bitch or learning class that I can attend child-free (because I know that if I have Dashiell around, I'm not going to learn it as fast... too many distractions.

Something like those baby legs would be a good learning project too, since they're fairly simple. I'd buy some too if I couldn't knit, or didn't have time. I'm thinking some stripey ones would be just too cute for words. :)

My first knitting project, when I get that far, is to knit a kind of donut thing that I can put my exercise ball in, to stop it rolling all over the floor when I get up off it :P

All right so I've suddenly changed my mind about whether or not I want to breast feed if I ever have a child... In fact, I think I want something to latch on right now!

I know people for whom their period stayed away for 1-1.5 years just because of breastfeeding. It doesn't always work that way, but it's not that rare either, at least it isn't rare to get to at least the 1 year mark.

On the flipside, breastfeeding is certainly a commitment. And one that will deprive your sleep. I haven't slept more than 2-3 hours consecutively since before he was born ;) Even when I've given PreZ a bottle with expressed breastmilk and go take a nap, I find I can't really sleep longer than that at the moment anyway.
