I wish so much that people who make websites, or who tart up their myspace pages (and $deity knows they're the foremost offenders in this case) would just refrain from inserting music into their pages.

Downloading isn't an issue, not since PreZ just got Verizon to up our FiOS bandwidth to 30Mbps... it's just that sometimes I'm browsing late at night, whilst listening to some music or playing a movie softly, and then all of a sudden there's this other obnoxious noise overlapping what I'm listening too, often MUCH louder than what I've already got on. With a sleeping husband and baby, I don't really need someone else's crappy loud music tastes forced on me at 3.14am.

So just don't, okay?

I hate that too! Sometimes the music just won't go away (although I think it's because of my crappy computer) and it drives me nuts.

I think sometimes it won't go away because they've hidden the place to turn the music off somewhere down the page... where you have to scroll past about 3 feet worth of images and banners and quiz results and crap.

Unless it keeps going for you even after you close the page/site/tab/window?

Yeah, sorry, I meant when I close the window.

Oh, I'm so with you on that one. Makes me glad that my Linux installation won't play most of it, even when I want it to (Neopets games are so much better when they're silent).

Oh Gods I hate that! ESPECIALLY at 0'dark'30 when the house is quiet, or your bopping along to something appropriate and WOOSH! Scares me so bad sometimes I literally fall out of my chair.

It's a dumb choice because auto-play music causes me to leave a page immediately and never go back!

People even have scripts for myspace now that override your choice not to have the music play automatically. That's just rude.

Certainly don't use one myself. Grateful for anyone else who doesn't, and usually comment on it as well!

MySpace is becoming quite the online place, yes?

MySpace is becoming quite the online place, yes?

Apparantly, yes. It's been hitting thet news channels recently because of young people using it to meet up, and that's causing controversy etc.

I don't understand the draw. Most MySpace pages are so cluttered and confusing, I don't even get what's going on with them. Call me an old LJ fogey, but I can't even look at MySpace pages.

The pages are okay if they're not filled with big placards and pictures of what people like and are fans of. Or have obnoxious backgrounds. Or have music embedded etc.

They're not my favourite thing to look at either.

hey, I had nothing to do with that photo, I only made a comment cause I thought it was funny.
I had no hand in it whatsoever.
no need to jump to conclusions.
thanks.

You're the only one of that group that still has my and PreZ's lj's friended, and you read the baby blog over on my site (at least at one point did so). It seems fairly unlikely for Damien to just randomly and magically have found that image.

It's not exactly a great leap to get to some kind of conclusion that you're somehow involved, directly or indirectly.

Either way, Damien was kind enough to remove the picture.

for the record (not that you will believe me or care), cherie and i had nothing to do with that picture, and actually suggested that it not be posted online. (personally, i thought it was too malicious.) she and i weren't even in the room at the time.

I know she didn't make it, that much was clear from her comment in Damien's Myspace. Though I didn't think she had even before seeing the comment.

I know who my money's on for the creation of it, but that's neither here nor there at this point. If that person or anyone else is feeling particularly malicious again, I prefer they have the balls to do it to my face next time.

Other than that, it's been 3 years since we stopped hanging out with you guys. While I'm surprised and amazed that we still hold such interest for you all to be the butt-end of a "joke", I'd prefer if you all just move on already and leave me and mine alone.

I wish it were possible to have your OWN music on your page not auto-play. I wouldn't mind having music on the page, if you had to go press the Play button to start it.

Yeah, the Auto-Play function is the worst. I prefer a kind of opt-in approach, not an opt-out one.

I think some of the autoplays only activate in firefox but not IE. I've loaded pages in IE without all the songs starting up, where as in firefox it all loads. I've also got a couple of myspace pages that won't load in firefox because of crappy css/html. Pain in the ass because firefox has been my main browser for two years thanks to your influence.
