I never hear stories about this with Purolator, FedEx or... anybody. Just UPS. U People Suck. I mean really, what intelligent person would use an acronym for a shipping company that sounds like "oops"??
Her posts are generally good reading :) As are her books (though so far I've only read the first, not the second, though it arrived from Amazon yesterday.)
Whenever we've had package courier problems it's ALWAYS been with UPS. Always. I don't think they ever clean their trucks out, because packages are always caked in dust and dirt, and as you've complained about, they're always dinged, dented or have tears in them. We once received a package where the packing material was basically hanging on there but for the grace of God.
We get quite a lot of stuff delivered here, and I don't remember ever having problems with FedEx, and having all kinds of issues with UPS. Anything from dented/dinged/dirty/torn packages to drivers not ringing the doorbell when the items required signature confirmation (I swear UPS drivers are the fucking laziest delivery people ever, they NEVER bother to even try and get a signature), to b0rking deliveries etc.
I've never been a huge fan of the USPS either, they've lost several packages over the years we've lived here (the packages weren't delivery confirmed or insured, funny how it's always those ones that go missing). But, they sure as hell are a lot faster than UPS, I'll give them that... I got a package from Hawaii in like 2-3 days via Priority Mail. With UPS it's like 5+ days from anywhere west of like Pennsylvania.
Fedex was constantly leaving expensive packages (like computer equipment) at our door and wouldn't even knock. We've complained numerous times about this, but they never did anything.
So both Fedex and UPS are complete and utter shite in my eyes.

I'm glad I don't have to really bother with them anymore.
Royal Mail works great so far :)
