Being able to update LJ from a gasstation in who knows where Utah on a laptop with national wireless broadband access. Heh.

We're about 2-3 hours from Vegas right now, where we'll be staying overnight at the Aladdin hotel and casino. If we get in on time and can organise babysitting, we might even go see Cirque du Soleil's KA. Kit hasn't seen that yet, and PreZ always said that he'd go again the next time he was in Las Vegas, lol. But we'll have to get to Vegas first. We're encountering some icy and nasty conditions, as well as some snow in parts. At one point we saw a pick-up truck that had managed to flip itself onto its roof. Ouchie.

Tomorrow we head out to Los Angeles. Sadly we won't be able to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] strigoiimorte because he was heading to his family this morning, but we might be able to hook up with [livejournal.com profile] djbloodrose because she'll still be in the LA area. And of course, we get to see [livejournal.com profile] nadya_lev again, whee! I think she wants us to help her buy a bed at Ikea tomorrow. And why not, this has been a crazy trip anyway ;)

It's nice to at least not still be stuck in Breckenridge, though it's gorgeous there and we skied some lovely powder on one of the slopes yesterday afternoon. And it's a huge relief not to be stuck at Denver airport with thousands of hungry, tired, cranky and delayed travellers.

Good luck on the road trip! Hope you get to Vegas in time for Cirque du Soleil - I hear their new show is great :)

Hey you :) A blast from the past! How are things?

Sadly it was going to take forever to get babysitting for Dashiell (2-2.5 hours minimum wait), so PreZ went with Kit, who hadn't seen it yet. We saw KA last year when we visited Vegas, so at least I didn't feel like I was missing out *that* much (though I'd have loved to have seen it again). I just watched Pirates of the Caribbean 2 on the hotel pay-per-view.

And their show really is amazing, as most of them are.

Eek, that response was supposed to be from me... I forgot PreZ was still logged in. Doh!

I've been alright. A little busy which = tired most of the time but I'd much rather be busy than sitting on my backside whining about not having work to do.

I actually just finished my first term of 'circus' school where we are learning to do the Tissu - Almost everyone I mention it to responds with "Oh, like in Cirque du Soleil?!" to which my response is "Yeah, sort of like that... Except I've only been doing it for 8 weeks". Its good fun but takes so much upper body strength.

I'm thinking I better go hit the supermarket before the Christmas Eve rush sets in.

I kind of like road trips. This wasn't planned, but I immediately liked the idea. In part I guess because with a kiddo the amount of spontaneous unscripted stuff you do isn't exactly much. And it certainly beats wait-at-the-airport-with-loads-of-pissed-off-and-stranded-people-for-days-until-a-flight-that-probably-leaves-after-christmas-hell.

:D

It'd be nicer if this was actually a different weekend and our L.A. based friends weren't away visiting relatives, and if we had the option of staying longer, but ah well.

Geekiness is being able to reply from the same car, somewhere in Utah.

If you did it from a seperate laptop, you get maximum geek points. I hope all of you have a safe trip back to LA!

Nope, same laptop. While Kit did bring his, he doesn't have the Verizon wireless broadband access thing that PreZ has, and we weren't stopping long enough for him to try and find a free wireless signal.

I was wondering if Prez would have share or bridged the internet connection of the verizon broadband through an ad-hoc wifi networkto kit or even wired for maximum geek points.

I'm glad your "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" adventure is going well.

I considered it, but Kit also did not have a car laptop adapter, so he would be limited to his battery life - and he didn't bring his spare battery either.

Wow!! Sounds like you're having some great fun! :) Kind of reminds me of RV, the latest movie with Robin Williams in it lol

Take care and have a lovely Christmas! Give Dash a huge hug from me too! :)

It did treat us well... it's a gorgeous state.

I was sad that we didn't get an opportunity to hang out with you guys. Dashiell bookended our stay with raging fevers (103+F) and uber-crankiness due to teething, and then of course the whole blizzard fiasco.

Any plans for NJ/PA visitations in the near future?

You're welcome :)

It's not the best picture in the world, but trying to get him to sit still for a picture in his little Yule/winter outfit in a setting that was remotely decent was hard, lol. And getting him to smile at the appropriate moment even harder, so I went with something that was a little fuzzy, but had the cute grin in it.

And we are safe. We left Vegas a while ago and are on I-15 about 60 miles from Barstow, CA, and we'll be in L.A. in a couple of hours. Thankfully the weather here is a lot nicer than the stuff on the road last night. It's even 62F outside right now, nice and sunny.
