Hair Today, Gone... Err... Yesterday

Yesterday I cut off another 11 inches of my hair, after 15 or so back in December. It's now a couple inches past my shoulders. And there was some dying of hair.

Tomorrow is more dying I think, because the semi perm black that I stupidly bought (added it to an order of another colour, not realising it was semi and not perm) isn't making me happy and then bleaching on Thursday (of parts remaining undyed at present).

Yes! Photos! I am trying to imagine you with such short hair, and having a hard time. You've had such long hair all the time I've known you. Also, can I ask you to email me a couple of newer pics of the family? Babies grow so fast...

Once we get the computer room sorted, and I can read the pictures off the camera, then I'll get new ones uploaded (and older ones, I'm so behind).

I had short hair all through highschool, which was actually fairly traumatic :P But this time the hairstyle will be much cooler.

Have you looked into henna and indigo for black? Henna For Hair (http://www.hennaforhair.com) has really good info on achieving a wide variety of gorgeous reds and really luscious blacks with them. We're seriously considering buying body-art grade henna and indigo - red for me, black for the long layer of T's hair.

Henna is great fun to apply and even more fun to (try to) wash out in the shower. You end up looking like a mudman from a B-grade horror film or something.

I wanted to try the indigo but I couldn't find a local source and it was a bit expensive to ship over.

Henna For Hair has a fab page on using flaxseed to make a gel that you can mix your henna into, so that it goes on much more easily - I will definitely be using that technique! I know that most shower heads in the US are fixed, which always struck me as odd; having showers you can hold in your hand makes targetted washing so much easier.

Well, I'm usually fine with regular permanent blacks. It was just that when I ordered purple from Manic Panic, I added their black to my order too, and all their colours are semi-permanent. It wasn't until later that I realised that there's no point getting a semi-permanent when I can easily buy a permanent at the regular store.

The problem with henna and indigo is that if I ever wanted to change colour, that stuff would really have to grow out, I don't think it strips out like hairdye does (though really dark hairdye is also a pain to strip out).

I actually had short hair until I was about 17-18, believe it or not. I didn't like the short hair I had in highschool, lame hairstyles. Hairdressers always promised that it would look a certain way, and you never could recreate that look yourself later.

And yese, it'll be a new look. A *very* new look, once I'm done.

Once all is said and done, I will post new pictures. I'll be working on various hairstyle aspects most of the week. I hope to unveil the look on Friday, my 30th birthday, lol.
