Goth.Net Forum Software Change

Just a note for those of you reading who frequent the GN forum.

We'll be switching the software from Ikonboard to phpBB soon, as soon as today or tomorrow, once it's themed etc.

The current software isn't really being maintained or supported anymore, and phpBB has a much more active developers community.

No information or posts will be lost, we'll be migrating it all (after all these years I'd hate to have to start again, let me tell you).

Edit: As of Sunday afternoon 1pm EST, the forums are down while data is being transferred and the new software put in place.

Serious? phpBB is so old and riddled with security holes, plus everyone has auto-signup scripts to flood phpBB boards with spam, etc.. even if you have CAPTCHA on.
Go SMF! PLEASE! :)
I converted an old phpBB forum to SMF and haven't looked back.
When you log onto the admin page it tells you "This version is old. Click here to update" and give it the FTP details and it does it all for you :D

No lilith dont do it !!!!! i spend atleast 30mins ever second day plugging holes in the phpbb go smf it rox has better support and the admin side of it is very sexah for doing anything it neeeds ..... omg i feel like i'm trying to save a man or woman or even those undecided from death row here lol!

Besides, too late, it's already up and running.

Add to that that PreZ is the one responsible for the technical aspects of the site/forums, he gets to "plug the holes".
