I can't even imagine having a year or more of that stuff... a few days is bad enough.
I'm glad you managed to find a competant dentist, it's scary to think what would have happened had you not decided to switch. And until you need somewhat more unusual kinds of procedures it's easy to think your dentist knows what he's doing.
