X-Men 2, a Still Dead Comp and Stuffage

Sunday evening we went and saw X-Men 2, which I definitely liked more than the first one, and I really liked the first one. Lots of fun and now I can't wait for the next one. Unfortunately if it takes as long as the space between the first two, it'll be around 2006 before it comes out *sob*.

The visual effects for the Nightcrawler kicked ass, I really liked those a lot.

Next up in 9 days... The Matrix installment 2 ... Yay! And then a month and a half later it's Pirates of the Caribbean ... Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom *swoon*.

Other than that it was a quiet few days. Yesterday the new motherboard arrived... and the fucking machine still doesn't work. So the RAM was quite probably okay, the motherboard was definitely broken, because at least now the computer will turn on and boot and stuff... now we've progressed towards software failure. It's always fucking Windoze's fault, and this is no exception. It'll boot to safe mode, but dies trying to load up the full version. There's also a possibility that the harddisk is screwy as well (this wasn't a new part, but one cannibalised from one of PreZ's machines). So, I still can't use my own computer.

Did some work basting the corset, need to finish that up in a little while as I'm going to be going down to NJ today I think... Kit, are we still on for that?

You know, I had the same kind of problem a few years back, and it turned out to be some bad clusters on my HD that were mucking everything up. Hopefully you don't lose too much.

I believe hdd is also something that has crossed PreZ's mind, he was mentioning pulling stuff off it and running disk diagnostic stuff and formatting etc.

Last night after a while I gave up and went to do other stuff rather than stare blankly while he did stuff, so I'm not sure what's going on exactly.

My craptacular luck with machinery (first the damn computer) has decided to spread itself around, and I managed to mostly rip off the front bumpre off the car.

So tomorrow a call and a visit to the dealership. Hopefully this will be fixed soon... like a day or two.

Of course all of this has to happen now when shop time is limited.

Did you reinstall win2k on the machine with the new mainboard?

That's rather mandatory, in my expierience, as those drivers seem to get into everything.

I believe PreZ tried to do that... it would boot into safe mode, but not regular windoze.
