I loathe web crawlers. My Yahoo profile has CLEARLY displayed words to the effect of, go away, I am not interested in meeting new people, I don't have time to chat unless I know you already...
Yesterday I got half a dozen chat requests. I tend to be rather rude in response - I figure, if they can't read in the first place...
Now if there's one thing that annoys me quite a bit, is if I'm working on something and a chat window pops up right in the middle of whatever it is I'm doing, and it's some person I don't know. I don't like people I don't know messaging me, especially not private messages as soon as they join the channel. At least talk in the channel first so people get a feel for you... plus most of the time the conversations aren't anything that couldn't be said in public anyway, and I'm hardly interested in 'picking up' online anyway.
Yeah, I realised that was irc. I was just drawing parallels...
What gets me is that I go beyond assuming people might be smart enough to realise they're being intrusive - I state it plainly, in the most obvious place I can on the profile.
I think I'm going to have to take my picture off, and put up a banner instead, saying "*%$! OFF!!!"...

I’m sorry I can’t type right now, too busy scratching this damn infection. I swear it’s started to ooze all these colors… geeeze it itches, but at least it's not as bad as my genital warts!......so wanna cyber?
