Eddie Izzard

Eddie Izzard on Tuesday was an absolute blast.

I headed into the city in the afternoon and met PreZ at his work, where we waited for the other members of the contingent to arrive. Kit arrived shortly after, Cherie was stuck in traffic with Keith and Katie, so we headed out to grab a bite to eat while we waited, as we weren't sure they'd make it in time to eat with us, and we were all hungry. They actually managed to join us shortly after our order was put in, so the timing wasn't too bad.

A quick meal and then we walked a few blocks to the City Center where Eddie would be performing. We arrived just on time, as the sounds that signalled the imminent start of the show were already beeping as we made our way into the venue.

The show was brilliant. Eddie looked glorious in his outfit, which was a black sequined skirt split all the way up to the hip with something that looked like a bustier on top, also black, with a cream coloured tailored jacket on top, and a pair of knee-high stiletto boots. The bustier, with breasts, was also a recurring physical gag during his show, which was hilarious.

Another memorable segment of the show is about neanderthals... hilarious. I am so looking forward to this show appearing on cd and/or dvd. I wish I could say more, but stand-up comedy doesn't sound that interesting when recited in a blog. I enjoyed SEXiE more than Circle though, it just struck me as a better routine, even though both are very funny.

Damn! Eddie wore a terrible semi-LL Bean outfit when I saw him in L.A. =(

I loved the show, but truly... nothing beats the Dressed to Kill tour.

This was the first show of Eddie's I've seen, stand-up that is (saw him in A Day In The Death of Joe Egg on Broadway). I do have most of the other ones on audio (Definite Article, Glorious, Circle and Dress to Kill). Dress to Kill does rank as my all time favourite of the stand-up routines... and I think Circle is my least favourite.

How lucky are you to have gotten the opportunity to see him live. I've only had the pleasure of seeing him on tv and seeing parts of Dressed to kill. I haven't seen Circle yet, but wasn't it just recently released?

We have Circle on audio, but yes, the dvd of Circle was released late September.
