Went out socialising this afternoon, and met up with
daskreestof to go see a ("bad") movie, Paycheck, which wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. It wasn't groundbreaking, but fairly entertaining nonetheless. I've never really warmed to Ben Affleck as an actor, he just doesn't strike me as all that interesting to watch. Plus he reminds me a bit of a Ken doll with his plastic bland good looks. Uma Thurman is always nice to watch, so that made up for a lot. Plus a lot of the set design was nice, the buildings where they were living, stuff like polished granite desks with rough hewn edges, and the contrast between rough stone/cement walls and soft furnishings, that kind of stuff. And no, the movie was not that boring that I just studied the sets :) .
Afterwards we went back to his place and chatted for a little while and compared maternal unit war stories until prior engagements on both sides meant we had to cut it short, which was a pity.
Of course we start hanging out in the month he's moving to Long Island ;)
'T was fun, and we should do it some more.
And tonight while PreZ was off bowling, I cleaned the bathroom, put the christmas tree with the trash, and got rid of a whole load of cardboard stuff that was taking up space in the garage, all ready for tomorrows pick-up. So slowly all the backlog of little things starts getting smaller and smaller. Tomorrow I need to head off to the recycling machines at the supermarket to get rid of the metric ton of cans and plastic bottles we've acquired over the months. I'm just hoping I don't show up to find the machine broken or full, as happens altogether way too often, which is why we still have a far too big of a stash of the empty things.
Finished CaitlĂn R. Kiernan's Low Red Moon last night, which was a lovely book, even though the ending left me a little melancholy. Though considering the way Cait often ends her stories, who knows what will happen if or when the characters get revisited again.
