Tea

Mmm tea. Ordered some new tea from Stash today. The Holiday Chai that was now on clearance, some Rooibos (redbush) which I haven't had in ages. The rooibos that Pitr tried sending me never arrived >_< and seeing as they now have teabags of it at Stash I figured I'd try there. And also some double bergamot earl grey... I can't wait to give that a try.

And that's pretty much the most exciting thing on this unrelentingly cold day. Reading some Kathe Koja (Strange Angels) and playing a little Warcraft 3: FT, and drinking tea.

Hehehe.

Ik heb het zelf vaak genoeg gedaan. Kende iemand hier in de VS die Appie's Chinese Melange graag lustte, en stuurde af en toe een doosje of twee op.

You know, I'm really getting into tea at the moment. I started as a "keep myself relaxed at work without cigarettes" thing, and now I'm drinking tea almost constantly at work because of this asthma business. (Lucky I quit smoking for New Years, huh?)

I don't know much about tea yet... for convenience I'm drinking Twinings teas at the moment, and I've discovered that I LOVE Prince of Wales, and Orange Pekoe. There are teas that I will still drink with milk (like English or Irish breakfast) but I'm getting into appreciating tea without milk.

Where should I go to find good, real (ie, not in a cardboard box in the supermarket) teas? I know you lived in Sydney, not Brisbane, so I'm asking in more general terms, not "oh, there's this FABULOUS little shop round the corner of..." *grin*

Or, alternatively, are there blends you really like you think I should try?

=)

...tea is my new obsession. One of them, anyway...

Heh, back in AU I had the Twinings stuff too, also from the supermarket.

The reason I use a lot of Stash tea now is that they sold some Stash at the supermarket near our old place, Chai tea specifically, which was the only teabag chai I could find. After that supermarket stopped restocking it, and our new one didn't have it, I just looked online and found Stash had a HUGE selection.

Personally I love Earl Grey, it's one of my longstanding favourites. Irish Breakfast is also a good one, I prefer that to English Breakfast.

Rooibos (Redbush) is good, it's popular in South Africa as it's made from a local plant there, so not strictly tea in the tea plant sense... very good stuff though. I got a taste for that after my parents went to SA and got fed it by locals ;) I'm not sure how easy that will be to find, it's been gaining popularity and I've seen it become availible in more and more places over the years. Health food shops would be a good place to try, it's good for you, doesn't have the tannin that tea does, and all that good anti-oxidant stuff. I used to be able to get boxes of 80 bags at the healthfood store for about 10 guilders, then the local supermarket started carrying 10ct boxes, for a couple of guilders, so the healthfood store was way cheaper for it too.
