"The state of Texas, in its all-too-finite wisdom, has bowed to eons of mammalian evolution and decided that breast-feeding your child is not a sign of unfit parenting.

This is particularly good news for Jacqueline Mercado and her boyfriend, Johnny Fernandez, who have regained custody of their 1-year-old son Rodrigo. Last week, Dallas Observer staff writer Thomas Korosec reported ("1-Hour Arrest") how Mercado and Fernandez ran afoul of the law for the dastardly act of taking a photo of their boy suckling at Mercado's breast. Last fall, the couple had the photos developed at a local drug store. A clerk there saw the image and called Richardson police. Long story short: Mercado and Fernandez wound up indicted for "sexual performance of a child" (though the case was later dropped by Dallas County prosecutors), and Child Protective Services took away their two children and ordered all sorts of onerous counseling and tests."

Someone needs to smack the sense into law enforcement and the DA's office over there. Morons.

Yet gory violence is perfectly permissible.
This jackson fiasco is the stupidest over-reaction… not to mention she had a pasty thing on her nipple as well.

It's even funnier that they tried to claim it was an accident.

Heh, that was a nipple shield rather than a pasty. It's held in place by the nipple piercings she has.

I've seen a closeup of that breast, and that part of the outfit was attached with snaps, so it was meant to come off. I believe though that supposedly the red lacy bra thing was supposed to stay on. But someone else said that that was attached to the black part of the outfit. Who knows.

Personally I think they're kicking up way too much of a stink over it. On the other hand, I'm not sure it was entirely appropriate to do either, seeing as the super bowl *is* a family event. But overreacting to it only makes it worse rather than better. I'm sure most kids thought it was funny rather than anything else.

Why tear off the cup of a dress to expose a red bra... and then wear decorative nipple things.

But you're right, if they had just fined them and not made a gigantic fuss, then that would have been that... however it was publicity they wanted... and they're getting it.
