I'm sure those of you who read Neil Gaiman's blog will have seen this link, however I think it could do with another plug.

This particular blog entry about rejection letters and the would be authors who get them is absolutely classic. I laughed so much reading this thing.

I once got a rejection letter from DC/Vertigo about a comicbook series I pitched to them. Aside from the standard typed letter, I got an additional handwritten note explaining why the editor had rejected it (the storyline, about ancient cults and whatnot, was not what they were looking for). That handwritten note was probably the nicest rejection letter I had ever recieved; the editor was concise in explaining why the proposal was rejected, and also gave me plenty of encouragement to continue with my writing.

I just wish I could remember where I put it. :(
