Bloody Human Beans
May. 11th, 2004 10:45 pmI don't know why I watch Animal Precinct on Animal Planet sometimes... half the time it just makes me want to cry.
Seeing what some people will do to their pets sometimes is just horrific. How do they look at their animal and not notice something is very fucking wrong when there's a volleyball sized growth hanging off their dog? Or when bones poke out at all angles and there's large bald patches where fur should be?
What's an added kick in the guts sometimes is just seeing how incredibly sweet some of the animals are that get rescued, even though they've been starved, beaten, neglected and a whole host of other things that crappy excuses for human beings have done to them. They seem to have this unwavering belief in the goodness of humans and they look up at them with complete trust in their eyes. Pity we let them down so often.

Date: 2004-05-11 08:36 pm (UTC)Or the 6 soldiers who got fined $2000 each for what they did to a litter of kittns *cries* They offered to do community service for the RSPCA - but the RSPCA turned around and said "We do not want help from people like that". I do not blame them.
I love animal precinct but hate it at the same time..

Date: 2004-05-12 06:29 pm (UTC)then again, it did not distress me like the pictures of the doggies that were set on fire :( The owner said "it was an accident" That one was in america :( it was so upsetting.
The kitten one - at least it was just an article, not a story. I do not think I could have handled it.
I wish they would be dishonorably discharged from the army.

Date: 2004-05-11 11:38 pm (UTC)Most of the time however, I don't feel that punishment is severe enough, but I guess it's a start (granted, compared to what I'd want to do to those people myself nothing would be severe enough barring cruel and unusual punishment and/or death).
The ones that really get me are when they arrest people and the people are really surprised that you can even get arrested for cruelty to animals. How can you be unaware that that kind of behaviour is not acceptable and punishable by law?
