So PreZ and I finally saw the latest Matrix movie last night. If you hate spoilers, stop reading... I'm not going to spoiler that much, but you're forewarned.

Definitely a big improvement over the second installment, and I found it a lot more enjoyable.

There were some things that really bothered me, like the fact that they spent way too much time being all sentimental and dragging Trinity's last scene on forever. They did that even more in the second movie with the superfluous love scene and cave rave. You don't need poignant or sentimental scenes to drag on forever, it backfires more than it gains empathy for the characters, and it kills pacing. But it seems part and parcel of the hamfisted writing and directing from the Wachowski brothers.

Ditto with the real world Smith. Now I know Neo gives off that "wha? huh?" vibe a lot, but it didn't take that many braincells to figure out that that guy was a real world manifestation of Smith... the speech patterns and the "Mr. Anderson" should have tipped him off quite fast. Filmmakers need to stop insulting the intelligence of their audiences... there are several of us out there that do get it without having the point chewed out for half an hour.

Anyway, I did enjoy it, really. It was a reasonable ending to the trilogy, even though the latter two didn't live up to the first movie. The fight for the docks was really good, and possibly because that was a part of the story that didn't take itself too seriously, and just was.

I could have done without the fact that they seemed to leave the ending open to follow it up with another movie, possibly, someday, maybe. Sometimes I wonder if filmmakers are scared of definitive endings to their stories, or that they're all suffering from sequelitis. And speaking of that, I noticed to my dismay upon leaving the cinema, that there's a poster up for Scooby Doo 2. Augh!

PreZ's mother sends funny cards. She sent us one for our anniversary which arrived today.

On the front it has Taz devil and the female Taz and it says "You two are still married?"

Inside: "Stubborn little devils, aren't you? Congratulations!"

Hehehehe.
