One Person Hazmat Team

In an ideal world you'd grow an extra arm or two while you were pregnant... get a kind of a Kali thing going (or close approximation). Why? Because hazmat diapers and squirmy babies require it.
Dashiell has taken to pooping only about once a day now, which you'd think would be a good thing... less poo diapers to clean up, right? Well... he saves everything up for that single poo diaper, which is the problem... a large amount of high velocity liquidy breastfeeding poo. The result is worthy of a hazmat team.
Mostly you just need the extra arm to hold his hands away, because he likes to try and grab his tackle, or just flails his hands into his diaper. The other two arms are already being employed to hold little legs/butt into the air and clean-up. The fourth arm out of a second pair, were you to have an additional pair of arms rather than one extra, would probably be used to just hold him in place, because Dash has taken to doing a backcrawl up the changing table. This movement is lessened by keeping his butt in the air, but when it comes time to close the diaper, and you're using both hands to fasten it, he quickly digs his heels into the changing pad and thrusts his butt up, and shuffles northward. This amuses him a lot.
Alas, extra arms aren't in the forseeable future, so for now I just get PreZ to help me if he's home for the hazmat diaper, and vice versa.

And yes, it's good he's moving around a lot. He's quite strong in his legs and starting to use his arms more. As far as I can tell he's doing really well.

Date: 2005-11-09 01:08 am (UTC)They showed us something at the breastfeeding class so that you could at least get the bottom arm out of the way, trapping it underneath and leaving only the top arm to flail around.
I usually have Dash's bottom arm kind of around my waist, if that makes sense. If I'm cradling his head with the hand on the side he's nursing, then he'll hold my wrist. But at least both keep his hand out of the way.

uhhh
