So those of you who watch I Love The 80s - Strikes Back... anyone know what the hell is up with Boy George's make-up?

Am I the only one who thinks he looks like that bloated demented clown from that movie Spawn?

I know 80s fashion was really bad at times, but I don't think I've seen anything on that show that compares to the horror that is the crap he's got on his face in 2003.

I thought he looked cool :)
He's been DJing upscale gay nightclubs that are themed much like Club Makeup and Glitterdome were. That's the kind of makeup they were there - really outrageous glam stuff - glitter galore and bright colors. For an example at that scene and the way other people dress in it, see my buddies Zazoo and Satori at http://www.theclubcreatures.com/

More recently he's doing a theatrical show - brought over to the US by Rosie and I think he's pretty outrageous looking for that one too.

Still, he's put on a lot of weight, so with the way his make-up is for that show, his face looks like a balloon it's so round. Plus it's either him sweating or the lights beating down on him, but it also often looks as though it's melting ;)

Yeah, Taboo. A friend of mine is working on the costumes for that show.

Well at least Boy George is no longer wearing that cakey white powder he used to wear on his forehead. It used to look like he had a severe bruise that he was trying to cover up, but at that time I think he was heavily on drugs so who knows.

Heh, have you seen what he's wearing on the 80s Strikes Back though? I'm not sure that a turquoise band of glittery paint across the eyes, gaudy pink lipstick and black lines reminiscent of the lines on basket balls on the top of his bald head are that big of an improvement over white powder ;)

Yes, you are right indeed, he does make quite interesting choices in cosmetics and attire.

I tried to take a really close look at the guy this afternoon. And I know why the man wears makeup! Or at least it's my theory. Even back in the 80's when he wasn't carrying all that extra weight the man is just not blessed with good looks. When I looked past all that pastel all I could think was "ewwwww."

The longer he's on camera (he was doing other segments in the 89 bit too) the longer the stripes on the side of his face become ;) the make-up's melting... it's amusing.

I thought he looks a bit like a big talking fabergé egg. (sp?)
