An Announcement
Oct. 29th, 2007 05:26 pmI still need to do lots of updating about our vacation and other things, but, first things first:
PreZ and I are expecting our second child in March, and Dashiell will be getting a sister. The baby is due around March 20th.
The test results from the amniocentesis came back today, and everything came back normal, and that's what we've been waiting on before making a public announcement. We also found out the gender this time. PreZ really wanted to know, and being that the amnio gives 100% certainty in that regard, rather than the "is that a wiener or a hamburger?" gazing at the fuzzy ultrasound picture, we opted to find out this time.
The amniocentesis, obviously, is so that we would know for certain whether or not this child will have any genetic issues. After Dashiell, we just wanted to know for sure, even though the chance of it happening again is extremely minimal. The amnio itself I had Friday just over a week ago, and wasn't actually near as bad as I had expected, thankfully.
Anyway, at this point I'm 19 weeks and 5 days pregnant. I'll be 20 weeks, and thus already half way through this pregnancy, on Wednesday. So far so good... I'm certainly glad to be well out of the first trimester with the all-day nausea, and I'm thankful that I was actually in the second trimester when the dates for our vacation rolled around. The tickets to Australia had already been booked before I got pregnant, but the timing ended up being very fortuitous in that way.
Wheee!

Date: 2007-11-01 10:26 pm (UTC)Incidentally, do you have time to come shave my head soon? :)

Date: 2007-11-01 10:28 pm (UTC)Hehehe. I've already had someone "request" the 17th as well, which would usually be St. Patrick's day (but not in 2008, due to some Holy Monday conflict).
If Dashiell is anything to go by, later is probably a better bet than earlier... but then I doubt it really is anything to go by at all, and we'll have to see :)

Date: 2007-11-02 08:34 am (UTC)I wish I could just run about not actively preventing anything. That must be rocking. George was conceived on an interruption. *little sigh* I swear I could get pregnant by sneezing the wrong way. :/

Date: 2007-11-03 04:14 pm (UTC)Planning on more? If not, you could send Bill in for a quick snip, lol.

Date: 2007-11-03 10:57 pm (UTC)That and, of course, it depends what George and Adelaide are like. She's in love with her brother and he's a very easy baby, but she might hate him and he might be a little snot in a few years' time!

Date: 2007-11-04 12:08 am (UTC)I think that how well it works is really also an individual family thing. Some people hated being just a twosome or a threesome, others love it. I will say that I think that I might enjoy having more than one single sibling... though I really interact most with one out of the two that I have (the other and I do get on, but we're really too different and just aren't as close).
Prez has said he'd like three or four, so we'll see where we draw the line, lol. Three would certainly be a bit easier than four in terms of just basic things like sleeping arrangements (if you want to give them each their own room), or car seating arrangements (regular sedan versus actually needing an SUV or a minivan or something with third row seating).

Date: 2007-11-04 12:18 am (UTC)Bill's line has more to do with age than numbers. He doesn't want kids after he's forty, because he feels that's a bit of a cut off for really running about all the time. Not that you can't run about at forty, of course, but he doesn't necessarily want a ten year old when he's fifty-five. He'd like to be neutered after forty. :)

Date: 2007-11-04 02:47 pm (UTC)I'm doing better on the whole, though, and I'm trying not to be a miserable little twat on the bad days. I don't always succeed, but points for trying, right? d-:

Date: 2007-11-04 03:36 pm (UTC)I haven't wanted to ask, because of all the stuff you've been going through... but have you done any thinking about the GN logo? I'll be brutally honest here and say I haven't done any work on the site either, so really, don't feel bad or anything... life's been more than chaotic over here, so I fully understand!
Our place is finally getting more sorted, so now that I have a little more control over the environment here I might get more organised in other areas and get into gear rather than feeling so overwhelmed I can't do anything or function properly.

Date: 2007-11-04 03:38 pm (UTC)Forty is younger nowadays than it used to be, but I don't think I'd want to be starting on a new diaper adventure close to that age either.

Date: 2007-11-04 10:08 pm (UTC)But I'd like to be done by 35 or so. We have more time between Dashiell and his sibling than originally planned, it works out because he's a bit delayed in his development. It's nice to have a kiddo that can already walk etc. before you get another one that needs constant lugging around.

Date: 2007-11-05 07:14 am (UTC)I'm so with you on the child who can already walk. Della's been attention seeking a bit, but she's old enough that she can be helpful and we can divert her attention seeking into helpful behaviours. I mean, sometimes it's not actually helpful, but it's a sweet deal when I can just say 'No, take yourself to the toilet' when I'm feeding George rather than, say, having to drop everything and take her like I would have if I'd had George a year ago.

Date: 2007-11-13 09:43 pm (UTC)Thanks. I've got to remember to cut myself some damn slack sometimes. d-:
To be equally as brutally honest, I haven't done a thing. I've got it taped to the side of my drawing board, staring at me, along with a couple of other projects, but I haven't even been managing to get the comic up on time of lates. C'est la vie, right now.
I can imagine it's been chaotic! Especially with a little one in tow (and another on the way). I'm glad to hear you three are starting to get settled in. Ducky and I are in the midst of packing to move ourselves, and it's unreal how having everything piled in crazy spots and shoved in boxes can really screw your head on wrong, can't it?
Incidentally, that's the most adorable shot of Dash ever! I squeal a little to myself every time I see it. He's such a sweetie. I should post some pictures of my niece. We stuck her in a mullet wig (long story), and she looked like Joe Dirt. d-:

Date: 2007-11-13 10:02 pm (UTC)You always find out that you have WAY more stuff than you thought you did when you move. And even when you're fairly ruthless about getting rid of shit, it still piles up.
And then months later you still have boxes of the not very necessary things that haven't been unpacked yet. We're still there.
I am planning on going through some of the stuff in our closet this upcoming weekend or soon... older clothes that don't fit or I or Prez don't wear anymore (old coats, jeans from years and a size or two ago etc.).
